Diploma in Culinary Arts
Introduction
The Diploma in Culinary Arts course provides a framework for developing the performance outcomes, skills, knowledge and attributes required to meet the needs of candidates who work or want to work as chef’s in the catering and hospitality sector. Here, we translate technical skills into effective operational / management performance, and prepare suitable candidates for business and career progression. Developed specifically for students with less fortunate in the secondary school (16 years and above) or young adults, the awards acknowledge and accredit the growing number of existing and new private institutions with required skills and experienced staff.
PROGRAM OUTLINE
Program will be conducted into two major stages.
Stage 1: Knowledge and Skills Training (In Campus) – (6 months)
Stage 2: Practical Training (On the job training – five star hotel or resort (6-12 months)
DURATION & MODE OF STUDY
Full Time mode of study
Classes: Sunday to Friday
Time: 7:00am until 5: 00pm (Morning and Evening Shift)
Minimum 80% attendance to appear in board exam
ASSESSMENT METHODOLOGY
For each module there are 2 areas assessment
- Examination : 40%
- Assignment / Practical : 60%
50% below – Fail
50% to 69% – Pass
70% to 79% – Pass with Merit
80% to 89% – Distinction
90% above – High Distinction
Student must achieved at least 50% or above in order the pass the subject. In case of failure in one or more courses in final examination students can appear in the retake examination arranged by university. Failure to secure minimum pass marks in either theory or practical will be consider as fail and required to give re-examination in both theory and practical. Students can apply for re-examination up to maximum of 4 attempt duration of 4 years from the date of enrollment. Students must pay the examination fee prescribed by the center.

PROPOSED ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
10 th Pass with D+ average or above.
Age above 16 years
ADMISSION PROCEDURE
Candidate seeking for admission should apply in the prescribed form within the stipulated time with applicable fee. The application form should be attached with mark sheet of 10 th pass or above, certificate and citizenship or national ID, two recent size passport size photographs and pass the entrance exam.
ATTENDANCE:
Students should attend the 80% theoretical and practical classes in each subject to qualify for examination and certification. Students should submit their project works and report within stipulated time and guidelines given by the center.
